Well, it took longer to remove the back side (a red tape!) off that double-sided tape than the time it took to move the heavy couch covering the vent, vacuum inside the vent (couldn't miss the opportunity now that the heavy couch was not in the way), set up the deflector vent extended over the vent and move the couch back into place.
However, instead of magnets to attach the deflector to the vent, the package came with five mini strips of double-sided tape about 1/2" long x 3/8" wide each, that supposedly would affix the deflector to the vent and the floor.

Our solution was to STAPLE the two pieces together, and use packing tape to attach it to the vent.
